SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

Nota Bene 15 works on:

  • Any computer running Windows Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows 10, or Windows 11, whether 32-bit or 64-bit versions
    • While the basic functionality of Nota Bene may also work on XP, now that Microsoft has stopped all support for XP, we can no longer address issues which are unique to XP. At the moment, these include the NB previewer and the new page-composition system, as well as Save as PDF, all introduced in 11.5; features in earlier releases of NB should almost all work properly)
  • Macs with Intel or M1, M2, M3, or M4 chips (we haven’t yet tested on the M5), on the current version of the Mac OS, Tahoe, as well as on versions of OS X after High Sierra, up to and including Mojave, Catalina, Big Sur, Monterey, Ventura, Sonoma, and Sequoia
    • The Mac version comes with a bundled version of Crossover, a program that lets Windows programs run “as if they were designed native to the Mac”
    • Nota Bene on the Mac is a single installation that both installs, and then runs, like other Mac applications, using the Finder dialog for all file management, and taking full advantage of Retina displays
  • Linux boxes under WINE (without requiring Windows)

Nota Bene has minimal hardware requirements (hardly a machine sold today that meets the above criteria will not easily have the basic configuration):

  • Approximately 100 MB of free disk space (Nota Bene is a very compact program, despite all the capabilities it provides)
  • The minimum amount of memory recommended by the operating system in use (generally 4GB on Vista, or Windows 7, 8, 10, or 11, although most now have more)
  • An internet connection (for installation only)
