Nota Bene is a specialized “boutique” program for academics, researchers, lawyers, writers, and others with specialized, advanced needs. As such, it is not downloaded as often as other general-purpose programs. In addition, the current version uses the latest hardware-based code-signing software (guaranteeing that the download comes from Nota Bene). Together, these two factors cause some anti-virus programs to give warnings that the software is unknown, and might pose a risk. You can safely ignore all such warnings — not only has this version been tested against multiple anti-virus programs, we have never delivered a virus, malware, spyware, or anything remotely like this in all the many years we have been developing and supporting Nota Bene. (The concerns we have about false positives are common complaints of smaller software companies, who have tried to get the big corporations to give more accurate and nuanced assessments, without any real success.)
